Waiting
Active strength below, water above, the discipline of waiting in readiness.
Waiting works through inner truth. Furthering to cross the great water.
Clouds rise to heaven, the image of waiting. The superior person eats and drinks while waiting.
In plain terms: Hexagram 5, "Waiting", is one of the 64 symbols in the I Ching — an ancient Chinese book you consult for guidance, a bit like asking a wise advisor. Its core message: active strength below, water above, the discipline of waiting in readiness..
Modern Interpretation
Waiting is not passivity in this hexagram. Below sits the creative force; above hangs the cloud, the water that has not yet fallen. The classical counsel is to wait with inner truth, in confidence, fed and rested, until the moment ripens. In modern terms this is the pattern of having done the preparation but knowing that the move requires an external trigger that is not yet present. Restless action now would dissipate energy that the right moment will need.
Application by Life Domain
Honor the rhythm. Do not push for the next phase before the relationship is ready.
Conditions are gathering but not yet here. Use the time to rest, train, and stay loose. When the cloud breaks, you must be ready to move.
Wait. The decision will be clearer in two to four weeks. Do not force the issue now.
Develop the capacity to be still while alert. Patience with readiness.
