Modern Interpretation
Hexagram 2 is the complementary pole of Hexagram 1. All six lines are yin. The hexagram describes a moment when receptivity, patience, and steady support of others is the source of power, and active assertion would be counterproductive. The classical mare image points to a strength that follows rather than leads, and accomplishes through sustained presence rather than initiative. In modern terms this is the pattern of holding space for a process that needs time, or supporting someone whose work belongs to them.

Listen first, ask less, hold space. The relationship deepens through consistent presence rather than dramatic gesture.
Support the work of others rather than push your own. Steady contribution from a supporting position will be remembered.
