A Chinese zodiac year does not begin on 1 January. It begins at Chinese New Year, which moves between late January and the third week of February. A baby due in that window can end up with either of two signs depending on when it arrives.
This catches out more families than any other detail in Chinese astrology. A baby born on 4 February 2027 and one born on 8 February 2027 are four days apart and carry different animals and different elements.
If your due date sits close to the boundary, it is worth knowing both answers in advance rather than looking it up afterwards.
