Healthy Expression
In healthy expression, fear is the appropriate response to genuine threat. It mobilizes the body to act protectively. The healthy adult relationship to fear is to listen to its information, respond to genuine threats skillfully, and not extend fear beyond its useful function.
When It Becomes Pathological
Sustained chronic fear (different from acute appropriate fear) drops kidney qi. The modern patterns of generalized anxiety, ambient catastrophic news exposure, and chronic financial or relational insecurity all create chronic fear states that deplete kidney essence over years.
